What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
People often ask me if hypnotherapy will put them into a special kind of 'state' or 'trance'. The truth is that we naturally move in and out of a number of different trance states in our day to day.
Have you ever driven a familiar journey, realising on arrival that you don't remember the drive there? This is a kind of autopilot 'trance'.
If you see an insect or animal you're afraid of perhaps your breathing quickens or your palms sweat. This is another type of 'trance'.
Through Cognitive Hypnotherapy we can access these different natural 'trance states', in a safe and nurturing space, and utilise them to free you from unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy doesn't use scripts or rigid structures. It's entirely tailored to suit your individual needs and your own unique way of experiencing the world. It draws on aspects of various talking therapies and positive psychology, meaning that, as a therapist, I can adapt our sessions to whatever it is that will be most helpful for you.
